ONE Solutions set out to stand up a real data environment — one their own team could operate without a standing dependency on outside consultants. They brought in Intelligence Data Strategy (IDS) to design it, build it, and then get out of the way.
The challenge
ONE Solutions, a company in the roofing industry, was early in building out its data capability. The business needed an environment that was genuinely its own — simple to use, maintainable, cost-effective, and, above all, something an internal hire could run day to day rather than a system that kept it tethered to outside help. Because the IDS team and the client’s new data engineer were all new to the company at the same time, part of the work was learning ONE Solutions’ terminology and business processes well enough to model them correctly.
The approach
IDS paired two complementary roles: Weymar Camargo brought the architectural vision and oversight, while Jeromy Julian served as the hands-on implementation specialist. Together they planned heavily upfront to minimize rework and keep the eventual environment simple and maintainable. Communication was deliberately plain — explaining to a non-engineer what needed to be done, why, and when, so the client felt confident in what it was paying for. When unforeseen problems arose, the team explained the tradeoffs, proposed practical alternatives, and kept the project moving, adjusting scope fairly as circumstances changed.
What we built
The core of the engagement was a re-platforming from Azure to Snowflake, with transformation pipelines built in dbt, the necessary source integrations wired in, a data model designed around ONE Solutions’ actual business, and data-quality controls to keep the numbers trustworthy. The guiding constraint throughout was cost-effectiveness and maintainability — a platform the client could afford to run and was equipped to own.
The outcomes
The re-platforming paid for itself quickly, and kept paying:
Knowledge transfer
A platform is only as good as a team’s ability to run it. IDS invested in documentation, in-person training, and a hands-on approach to knowledge transfer, leaving ONE Solutions with clear processes and documentation it could maintain itself. By the end of the engagement, the client’s own data engineer was confident managing the environment independently — and applying the company’s roofing-industry knowledge to it without IDS in the loop.
In their words
“Hiring Jeromy and Weymar was one of the best decisions I have made in my career when it comes to data. Their deep technical knowledge coupled with my internal data hire allowed us to stand up a data environment quickly well within my budget.” Carmen Roberts — Chief of Staff, ONE Solutions
“They brought deep technical expertise, particularly in data architecture, Snowflake, dbt, integrations, data modeling, and data quality… Their documentation and knowledge transfer were exceptional.” Regan — Data Engineer, ONE Solutions
